Flower and Bird Chinese Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Bees Butterfly

Painted on silk in the classic vertical hanging-scroll format, this Chinese flower and bird painting presents peony, butterfly, and bees. This is the kind of gongbi flower painting that changes a room without shouting about it. Color is used the painterly way here — soft natural tones laid on with a sure, unhurried hand.

Every element carries its own quiet message: butterflies, symbols of joy and transformation; peonies, the flower of wealth and honor. The subject takes its form from classical brushwork; its feeling comes from soft natural tones. The format has survived a thousand years because it works — simple, elegant, direct. Peony, done in classical brushwork, is the passage collectors will return to. Around peony, butterfly, and bees, the soft natural tones settle into a calm, unified field.

Somewhere with soft, indirect light shows the silk to its best advantage. For the friend who has everything, a silk scroll is rarely the expected gift.
