Flower and Bird Chinese Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Winter Pheasant

Made for the wall, this Chinese flower and bird painting sets pheasant, snow, plum blossom, camellia, and winter against silk in soft natural tones. Anyone new to Chinese botanical wall art could start here — the subject explains itself. Empty space does half the work here, the way the old masters liked it.

The symbolism runs deep: plum blossom, the flower that stands for perseverance, while camellias, winter's proudest bloom. The color work is all soft natural tones, laid on over classical brushwork with a steady hand. Centuries of connoisseurs preferred silk for its depth; the preference still holds. Look for pheasant, snow, and plum blossom first; the soft natural tones around them do the quiet work of holding the scene together. The painter's classical brushwork shows especially well in pheasant, snow, and plum blossom.

Somewhere with soft, indirect light shows the silk to its best advantage. Collectors of gongbi flower painting will feel right at home receiving it.
